I love to read, but during the school year it's pretty difficult to find the motivation to read for pleasure. So much of my time is spent reading textbooks and journal articles that I don't want to think anymore by the time I've finished my assigned reading. However, when I do find a book I want to read, I get completely immersed in the story.
Recently I've been enjoying a lot of historical fiction, and I'm currently reading The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys. It's set in Spain in the 1950s, dealing with the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War. This is the fourth book I've read by Ruta Sepetys, and I have loved every single one. She has a gift for bringing the past to life and making the characters easy to understand and relate to. By reading her books I learn about history in an intimate way that is never captured in textbooks, which just generally describe the time period. I haven't finished the book yet, but I'm excited to!

I've been wanting to get into a new book, maybe I'll have to check out Ruta Sepetys. Thanks for the recommendation!
